Liverpool legend John Barnes has accused Cristiano Ronaldo of causing ‘disunity and disharmony’ at Manchester United.
The Portuguese scorer finished the season as the Red Devils’ top scorer with 18 top-flight goals after returning to Old Trafford last summer.
But United have endured their worst season in their Premier League history, finishing sixth and only just clinching Europa League football for next term amid rumours of tensions in the squad.
Despite Ronaldo bailing the Manchester club out at times through out the season, Barnes claimed United would have been better without him.
According to ESPN, the team was split into two camps with the British players sticking together and the foreign players following Ronaldo.
And Barnes claimed that the poor performances of some members of the squad is down to Ronaldo’s presence in the side.
Barnes was joined on the podcast by Robbie Savage, whose son, Charlie, has recently singed an extended deal at the club.
But Barnes continued to disagree, insisting the Red Devils would be better off without the superstar next season.
