The Canadian personal 30g acrylic cosmetic jar and home consumer goods service provider Knowlton Development Corporation (hereinafter referred to as ‘KDC /ONE’) announced that it will acquire the manufacturing business and related assets of Swallowfield plc, a British personal care and beauty product manufacturer, for approximately £35 million in cash.
The latter will Operating as the new company KDC/ONE Swallowfield, all manufacturing employees will also be transferred to KDC/ONE. Swallowfield was founded 137 years ago and is headquartered in Wellington, UK, founded by chemist Walter Gregory. Swallowfield was originally a pharmacy and has now grown into an enterprise that undertakes the development and production of personal care and beauty brands. Swallowfield invented aerosol cans in the 1950s,
which are now widely used in hairdressing and beauty product packaging. Swallowfield’s differentiated products in the professional field also include: fragrances, cosmetics, hair care products, perfumes, gifts, packaging, etc. At present, approximately 2,000 new products can be developed every year. Swallowfield’s manufacturing operations have approximately 560 employees, three main factories in Europe (two in the UK and one in the Czech Republic),
a purchasing office in China, and sales offices in Paris and New York. KDC/ONE was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec, Canada. It is North America’s largest custom formulation and manufacturer of personal care, beauty and home care and industrial car care. It has more than 5,000 employees in 13 operating organizations in North America and France. KDC/ONE provides operational support and market access for well-known and emerging brands. In the past four years, KDC/ONE has experienced rapid development and successfully completed eight high-profile acquisitions.
