How to use outdoor telescopes correctly

A telescope is an instrument used to observe distant scenery, and it plays an important role in navigation, military, outdoor activities and other fields. However, some people experience dizziness, nausea and vomiting due to improper use.

The following points should be mastered in normal use of the telescope:

When the telescope stored for a long time is used, check it carefully. If the lens is found to be moldy or foggy, wipe it clean; check whether the diopter adjustment device and the connecting part for adjusting the pupil distance are normal.

Set the diopter scale. Some people’s eyes have different diopters, so they should adjust and set the divisions separately so that each eye can see the scene clearly; adjust the pupil spacing so that the scene images seen by the two eyes overlap.

When observing, the posture should be free and the mirror should be steady. When using the mirror in a standing posture, retract your forearm slightly and put it against your upper body to avoid shaking your arms. When conditions permit, support can be used. Maintain the correct receiving position. Different types of telescopes have different distances from the pupils and the distance between the eyes. For example, the 62-type 8x telescope, when the eyeglass guard ring and the eye socket are kept close to each other, the forehead position is more suitable. At this time, the exit pupil distance is approximately eight millimeters.

Observe the target. According to the distance of the target, adjust the distance division. Observing long-distance targets should be observed in the order of first looking outside the mirror, then turning into the mirror, first rough and then precise. For this reason, you should be familiar with the correct use of the number of densities corresponding to different divisions (this is only for military telescopes) in order to quickly identify the target location, improve observation efficiency, and shorten the use of mirrors.

Under different weather conditions such as snow, strong light, and smog, the corresponding filter lens should be installed to reduce the stimulation of the white snow and strong light to the eyes and increase the contrast of the scenery in the smog. When using a telescope with an infrared photosensitive screen during the day, the infrared photosensitive screen should be unplugged to avoid the darkening of the mirror chamber and the narrowing of the field of view caused by the photosensitive screen, which will affect the observation effect.
