Uses of a Nylon Spacer and Neodymium Disc Magnets

Disk Magnets are used in a wide range of industries to support a wide variety of applications. The Motor Magnets wholesale  most common use of the disk is as a hearing aid, this provides a low friction free movement that is beneficial in heavy industry applications such as on large cranes, industrial presses, conveyor belts and much more. There are two different forms of disk magnet to self adhesive materials available. The first type of material is a traditional sintered disk which has been found to be very effective in applications where there is a need for a large surface area, whilst the second type of material is a tungsten carbide disk.

Disk Magnets are made from a variety of materials, this includes iron, titanium, tungsten carbide and aluminum. They can be constructed from a variety of combinations of these materials depending on the application they are needed in. Disk Magnets are also utilised to provide a temporary holding force in addition to a permanent holding power, this is useful for such things as pallet racking applications and in a multitude of other industries. The strength of a magnet is measured in Units known as Magnets Per Square Inches (Mg). Higher numbers of Magnets will produce a stronger holding force. There are many industries that rely on disk magnets in one way or another, some of the most common ones being aerospace, automotive, dental and electrical.

The most commonly used Disk Magnets are normally constructed from iron with a hollow inner ring. The inner ring is constructed of tungsten carbide, whilst a ceramic disc is placed over the top to provide a solid backing. Many people will confuse a Disk Magnet with a N-beam North Pole magnet, the latter is actually an antipodeal device. An N-beam North Pole magnet is only attracted to a north pole while a disk magnet will attract either a north pole or a south pole.

A number of modern designs can be found on the market. Most commonly they are manufactured in two ways; either plated round magnetic neodymium disc magnets or in the more recently discovered and popularized N-beam style. Most modern Day plated round magnetic neodymium discs are constructed in an eight sectored disc configuration, which provides the most effective alignment for a given application. Many people have reported good results with these types of plated round magnetic neodymium discs, however their cost can often exceed that of the standard N-beam style. The cost benefit of these types of plated round magnetic neodymium disc magnets has become increasingly apparent when considering the highly sensitive environments they are often used in.
