Earlier on, leaked images of the handset had popped up showing a Vivo NEX-like elevated camera. Also, from the picture, we can see that the entire back of the Mi Mix 3 slides up and not just the top portion as is the case with the Find X. It appears that Xiaomi might have scrapped that idea in favour of the one used in the image above.
