The Background of Electromagnetic Wire Development and How it Developed

When it comes to the question of magnetic copper wire, there are many companies that offer their own brand of electromagnetic wire, but there are only a few that have consistently delivered top notch work in terms of superior quality and the best engineering in the industry. Magnetic copper wire has been around for decades and has developed quite a reputation as being the strongest and most durable wire available, which is why there is such a premium on this wire in the first place. The question then becomes, how do you choose the best company to provide your wire and what does it take to ensure your wire is supplied by the best manufacturer? To begin with, it’s important to understand the way each company supplies their wire:

Magnetic copper wire isn’t produced in large industrial plants like so many others, but rather in smaller operations in high volume manufacturing plants, such as those found in aerospace or military construction. Typically, these smaller operations have both low production volume and smaller, less efficient equipment which limits the amount of magnetic copper they can use. In order to compensate for the equipment limitations, smaller manufacturing facilities will utilize wound copper coils which come from high grade shear lines. With the smaller surface area, these cores have a much higher frequency of electrical conductivity and can handle the increased electrical load the larger coils present, which results in superior performance from the beginning.

Wrapped around these core pieces are numerous layers of insulation to protect the wire during transportation and storage. This is why so many companies use the insulated wires which have a much wider band of frequencies available: the higher the frequency, the more resistant the core piece will be to stress, which means that the wire will last much longer, and the more times it can be utilized, the better for the company and their customers. In addition to this core layer of insulation, most insulated wires are also comprised of an exterior sleeve which is designed to match the thickness of the core piece and is commonly sold as a seamless component.
